Tony Farmer, Basketball Player Faints in Court when Convicted with Kidnapping

Tony Farmer was once a basketball player that colleges were salivating after. Now he is a convicted felon facing three years in prison. And when that realization hit him in an Ohio courtroom Tuesday, he collapsed at the feet of his attorney.

Farmer, an 18-year-old senior at Garfield Heights High in Ohio, received a three-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to kidnapping and felonious[..]ault of his girlfriend.

"I got three years?" Farmer asked his lawyer, Joe Dubyak, before collapsing.

"I haven't finished yet," Barker said from the bench as a court officer tried to lift Farmer to his feet.

"Tony, come on Tony," Dubyak said. "It's not as bad as you think it is."

And that crying you hear in the background? That was Farmer's victim, Andrea Lane, who had asked Judge Pamela Barker not to put Farmer in prison.

"I know he was a good person," she told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I hope he still is."

Farmer was widely considered one of the top 100 basketball players in the class of 2013.

Farmer[..]aulted Lane, dragged her by her hair outside the building and then took her cellphone, bank card, computer and car keys in a scene that was captured on video outside her apartment building.
