NBA teams are always looking for a player that can create on offense, especially a quick slasher that can help others on the team with open shots and that is why it's hard to believe that Leandro Barbosa is still available this summer.

The 29-year-old free agent is playing for Brazil in the 2012 Olympics and has already shown his offensive skills in a win over Australia. While the former first round pick is without a team, rumors have the LA Lakers showing interest in a move that would give the bench some incredible depth as the Brazilian can play both guard positions.

Barbosa averaged just over 11 points per game last season playing for Toronto and Indiana, but the veteran has averaged over 18 points in a season when he started for Phoenix back in 2006.

The LA Lakers have done a good job in acquiring Steve Nash and Antawn Jamison this summer, but adding another scoring threat that could help lead the second unit could make this a championship team. The NBA has a number of deep teams, but the Lakers could surpass them all with more scoring options off the bench and that makes signing Barbosa a priority for the team this summer.

LA needs a bench cat to camp out in the corner and hit close to 50% of them !!s.... If that is all he is asked to do, then it prolly will work out...

barbosa is a nice spark plug off the bench, but still has a 1 man army mindset.... LA had a weak bench, but I doubet LB would get burn in crunchtime or for last second shots, with the way the lakers lineup is constructed with nash

Barbosa is trash nowadays. He takes a lot of shots, a lot of stupid shots really, and his defense has sucked for the past couple of years now. He couldn't even do a damn thing for the raptors - and he was given the green light.. And when he went to Indy, he couldn't do a damn thing in a limited role. Lakers would be better off playing Troy murphy if they really need to spread the floor.
