Not sure if you know, but the former GM of the Trailblazers (Kevin Pritchard) is now running the Pacers under Walsh's eye...now while offering a Max Contract to Hibbert out of spite would be stupid, for basketball reasons it would be justified. So its a win-win for the Blazers...if they sign Hibbert they get their guy while sticking it to Pritchard by stealing him from under his nose...and if Indy matches, Pritchard will be the guy who matched a Max Contract for Roy Hibbert.

So believe it or not, it ain't pointless...coming from the business, there's politics in EVERYTHING!

How's it silly? they're having ind+noh overpay for their 'stars' which should prove to be a detriment to their future ability to wheel and deal.

definitely not pointless, if I had a team with nothing to lose I'd be jacking up the prices for premium guys every damn offseason. You either strike gold or make a team come out of pocket and hinder there flexibility.

Supply and demand doesn't factor into the new CBA. The Pacers have no amnesty clause and they would be paying Granger and Hibbert ludicrous contracts. I hope the Pacers cripple themselves so the Raptors leap frog them in a year or two.
