Rockets close to buying out Derek Fisher, Lakers cannot resign after he is brought out

Rockets close to buying out Derek Fisher, Lakers cannot resign after he is brought out

Derek Fisher has reached a buyout agreement with the Houston Rockets and is expected to become a free agent once he clears waivers, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Fisher, 37, was traded to the Rockets on Thursday with a 2012 first-round draft pick for forward Jordan Hill. Fisher became expendable after the Los Angeles Lakers acquired point guard Ramon Sessions from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Fisher will likely have a deal with a contender soon. A new rule in the collective bargaining agreement doesn’t allow him to get bought out after a trade and re-sign with the Lakers this season. Fisher had a $3.4 million player option on his 2012-13 contract.

Fisher averaged 5.9 points and 25.5 minutes for the Lakers this season.

Fisher would have never played even if he was still with the rockets.

He should just sit out the season and rest up, then re-sign w/ LA next year and retire as a Laker...

If he signs w/ Miami, OKC, etc. tho... [pic]

nah they just wanted the pick, they couldn't make the trade without Fish for Cap reasons. They never cared to have him but in this deep draft no reason to keep Hill who seems to not have as high a potential as once thought. The NBA is different after this CBA teams must now build thru the draft more than ever.

I dont see him going to the heat.... They got Chalmers and cole

Same with the thunder in Westbrooke and Reggie Jackson

Knicks wont get em with Lin and Baron

Bulls wont with Rose and Watson

maybe the spurs... I can't think of their back up of the top of my head

Might as well retire [pic]

Derek Fisher's best moment as a Rocket was us ending his consecutive games streak. [pic]

Fisher is the most overrated player in NBA history... He hit one big shot in the playoffs and a couple more during the regular season, and that's it... His career numbers are pathetic...
