Red Sox place Adrian Gonzalez on trade waivers

The Boston Red Sox have placed first baseman Adrian Gonzalez on trade waivers, according to Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com.

While many players are routinely placed on trade waivers only to be removed once claimed, the move is an indication the Red Sox could potentially make Gonzalez available this offseason.

Gonzalez has hit .304/.349/.478 with 15 home runs in 516 plate appearances this season. He is in the first year of a seven-year, $154 million contract.

who cares? Teams put people on waivers all the time after the trade deadline. Doesn't mean they're dumping him.

hes a beast but looks like he thought he was teflon don the way he was talking to ownership about his skipper. looks like the red sox management is going to send a message whos running thte show

That trade works out well for both teams actually. But i'd rather keep Tex because his D is better plus his contract expires sooner.
