Ray Allen calls lockout “almost embarrassing”

Note to Ray Allen, take the almost out of your quote and you are spot on.

In the end, the lockout is embarrassing, which is almost what he told CSN New England.

“I look at Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Dr. J, and . . . the money we make, not only us as players but as owners, the money that’s in the loop is so outstanding it’s almost embarrassing that we can make this type of money and we still haggle over what we haggle over.

“It’s important that the game is at an all-time high, and those players in the [1970s] and 80s that generation, they built us to this point that we can afford the salaries that we all afford. We just have to always remember that we have to take the game to the next level, we gotta know that this is bigger than us, and we gotta make sure the game continues to grow.”

Taking the game to the next level is not the same as making sure player salaries stay astronomical. Everyone is going to have to compromise here. Everyone is going to have to give up something — probably more than they want.

It is about the game, I hope someone remembers that.

niccas up in age and get righteous. disappointed that Ray doesn't show offense to the owners closing the door on them.

Im going to bump this thread when his checks stop coming in and he talks about the owners being wrong for what they are doing.

He's right, and they should be embarrassed. Most of these guys aren't like Ray though, they're entitled crybabies who think everything should be given to them. Look at guys like Baron Davis who make 15,16 million per year and being all stuck up about which team they're gonna play for [pic] They've all been tainted by money to the point where the game is secondary and the fans are irrelevant (that goes to players and owners).

Football is a little different IMO because it's a life threatening sport, but with basketball it just seems like 90% of these guys are self-important divas who think the world owes them something.

Ray isnt the only player that feels like this. It's others but they just dont wanna!!of the players union by voicing this because they are supposed to all be for the common goal of keeping each other paid as much as possible regardless of any other !!.

Trust me, it will be some guys coming out later that say the same kind of stuff.

because the players are putting money into the team, right? because the players are taking financial risks playing in the NBA
