Pierre Niles slapped a UAB fan...

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Conference USA officials are investigating what happened after top-ranked Memphis' 79-78 victory over UAB where the Tigers were showered with debris after avoiding an upset.
Cups, water bottles and pompoms were thrown at the Tigers as they were being escorted off the court toward their dressing room Saturday night. The Commercial Appeal newspaper published a photo Sunday showing a fan being slapped and identified the player slapping him as Pierre Niles.
The league says officials have been in touch with both Memphis and UAB administrators.

Thank you Pierre. You put in to action what every college athlete thinks about doing...Smushing the !! out of a annoying[..] fan.

I don't mind fans at all, but I do have a problem with fans confusing a basketball game with real life. niccas get fired on for gettin hit wit !!.

If there is visual evidence of him slapping a fan then Niles needs to be kicked off the team. Not that it would effect the team in anyway because dude barely plays but he needs to be booted. Student athletes should know better then to put their hands on a fan. Even if the fan was throwing !! or screaming !! at him, you just can't put your hands on a fan. If he's on the team he's most likely getting a scholarship or something.

If there is evidence that he did slap a fan and Memphis doesn't come down on the kid I wonder if the NCAA would step in and do something. I also wouldn't be shocked in the fan sues Memphis for the players actions.

Did you miss the part when he said that the students were throwing drinks and bottles at them? Its Detroit Pistons all over again.

If there's physical evidence that the fan threw something at Pierre then he needs to be punished as well. You didn't ask that question though.

Whether players know better or not, it is not justifiable to expect them to tolerate stupid[..] fans throwing !!, cursing them out, and flipping fingers at them.

This is what I mean by fans getting !! twisted. If you disrespect a man, he may turn the other cheek that first time, but after a while, enough is enough.

Kick him off the team for what? Suspend him yeah. He made a mistake. It was just as wrong on his part.

He'll get suspended more than likely like dude said, being a fan doesnt excuse that kind of behavior. There are 3 pics on the commercial appeal site of the slap.

the first pic shows the team leaving and the guy in the orange shirt is leaning over the rail and has his hand inches away from niles' face screaming at him. niles did what you would have done slapped the !! outta dude.

if the fan didnt touch him then the player should not have touched him, but this !! happens all the time, you dont get in the face of a player after a game, he instigated it , he knew something like that was probably going to happen.

let the fans begin to storm the court when
they didn't even win the !!ing game. idiots.

then, they couldn't control them throwing garbage
at the players, which is d|sgusting. On sportscenter,
I remember seeing andre allen in the tunnel looking into
the garbage pail ready to throw some !! back. [pic]
