Packers Defense "Much Improved" [pic] [pic]

You are j/king right that "D" is one of the worse in the NFC they ain't stoppin ish this year.

The secondary will be improved because of?? Al Harris?? or Ahmad Carroll?? Nick Collins maybe Earl Little... Mark Roman!! [pic] [pic]

That secondary is[..] just like the rest of the "D". The best thing going for the Pack is experience and their schedule. Still think they can go 8-8 though just cause they are the Packers.

You won't be [pic] this weekend when the secondary makes your QB look like a joke. Al Harris is one of the most underrated CB's in the league. He hasn't missed a game since 99. Last December he held Roy Williams to 1 catch for 13yds. and then turned around a couple weeks later and held Randy Moss to 2 catches for 30 yds. Don't even try to bring up the playoff loss to the Vikings last year because Darren Sharper was more responsible for blown plays in that game than Harris was. As for the rest of our D being[..].

Barnett and Diggs > than any LB on the Lions.
KGB > than anybody on the Lions D Line.

You can't say your defense is that much better than ours. In two games between the Packers and Lions last season here were some important defensive stats.

Sacks
Green Bay- 3
Detroit- 1

Interceptions
Green Bay- 3
Detroit- 1

Pass Deflections
Green Bay-9
Detroit-10

So if our secondary is[..] then so is yours. There is not a single position on your offense that is better than ours. The only area that the Lions are better than the Packers is on special teams. You will need two touchdowns from Drummond to even be in the game this weekend.

theres gonna be so many pts scored in this game. they both have whack[..] D's and both of their offenses r explosive.

it'll be close, but i think the lions will take it, since favre never does good when he plays in domes(i.e. detroit and minnesota).

I guess you missed when Favre led the Packers on amazing come-from-behind victories in both those domes last season. Two of Favre's best drives last season were in the 4th Quarter in both of those stadiums. So I hope that is not your main reason for picking the Lions. [pic]

Guess what year it is... 2005 not last year I don't want to hear about last year.

Shaun "Big Baby" Rogers>> KGB, Big Baby is considered by many as the best DT in the NFL right now.

Lions Secondary- Dre' Bly- Pro Bowl last two seasons
Ferando Bryant, Kenoy Kennedy, R.W. McQuarters, Terrence Holt>>>> The Packers secondary.

WR for the Lions are right up there with the Packs (Yall got some good proven ones, we got the potential to be the best core in the NFL.)

Only position yall have us on for sure is QB and Bret will be leaving soon.

Green is a top five back and KJ has that potential.

Red you obviously only watch Green Bay games and not the WHOLE NFL because you are DRASTICALLY OVERRATING YOUR TEAM, STOP BEING SUCH A HOMER AND TELL IT LIKE IT IS. [pic] [pic]

I have not missed a Packer game in three years. But that doesn't mean that I don't watch the rest of the NFL. Living in Las Vegas there are hundreds of casinos and sportsbooks that broadcast every game. I am very familiar with a lot of teams, especially the Lions.

Dre Bly is definitely one of the top corners if not the top corner in the division. Especially since he puts up the numbers he does when he is injured all the time. I have no doubt in my mind that the Packers secondary is going to be one of the most improved units in the NFL this year.

WR's for the Lions collectively have 1 season under their belt. Packers receivers are proven and will show why they are right up there with the Colts receivers as one of the top trios.

The Packers haven't had a good defense since 97, yet since then probably rank #1 or #2 in wins.

I am also aware that Shaun Rogers is considered a top tackle in the league but there are very few people who would say he is better than Kris Jenkins.

In 2004, KGB became the first Packers player to post double-digit sacks in three consecutive seasons. Only three other NFL players – Michael Strahan, Simeon Rice and Leonard Little – have done the same over the past three years. The right defensive end is probably the most important position on the defense along with a shutdown corner. KGB has 50 1/2 career sacks at the age of 27 where Reggie White had 68 1/2 for the Packers. KGB will pass him by probably the 5th game of next season.

I like to talk trash to division rivals but I also put my money where my mouth is. Look no further than the wager I made with Aesop. You can read about it earlier in this thread. If the Packers were to lose I will hold up my end and I only hope that Aesop is man enough to hold up his end.

RediKnight- You make valid points. But you also get carried away and speak alot about what is "Supposed" to happen this year or what happened last year. Those corners have been there and not proved much.

That "D" doesn't look very good on paper and that's all we can go off right now.

Like I said the Packers don't look Horrible but for you to say they will have a Defense that will rank in the top 15 I think you are pushing it. But we are talking paper ish.

They might just be the best "D" in the NFL this year but it probably would shock everybody in the world except you.

I just have a lot of confidence in what the Packer's have done in the offseason on the defensive side of the ball. We have a lot of young talented players and we have a lot of speed in the secondary. Al Harris is definitely the slowest person we have in the secondary, but also the smartest. The aqcuisition of Jim Bates as defensive coordinator is big because he will make the players more disciplined and accountable. If the Packers defense finishes somewhere between 15th and 20th that will be a big improvement from their 25th pass defense last year. I know it seems that I am getting carried away, but I think that a lot of people are getting carried away when they are not giving the Packers a chance in a division they've won for the past 3 years. Me speaking on the potential of our corners is equal to anyone speaking on the potential of Joey Harrington. He has not proved himself and until he does, the Lions should be considered an underdog to the Packers.

Also in the opening game of the season for New England John Madden touched on a good point. He doesn't see how so many people can say the Vikings will surely be better when they lost their best offensive weapon. Losing a player who had 90 touchdowns in 7 seasons is a huge loss for any team. Having a player that demands that much attention opens up so much for the rest of the offense.

Whether they have a bad defense or not the Packers still have possibly the greatest competitor in the game in Brett Favre. Brett Favre embodies the winning spirit of the Green Bay Packers. Coach Sherman also does a great job of making the players understand that the Packers are not judged on wins but on championships. It is that mentality that runs through the team and should make anybody think twice before they[..]ume the Packers won't compete for another division championship.

this game was bullish! i hate the Lions... only good thing is that the Vikings lost too.. Lions are number one in the division since every other team lost today.... hopefully the Pack can learn from their mistakes (goddamn penalties) and turn this ish around!

Naw, they'll get second because Minnesota will not play that badly again this season. The Lions will probably get a wild card though, they're pretty nice.
