NFL trying their hardest to eliminate head injuries

NFL trying their hardest to eliminate head injuries

Most people bang on Goodell and the NFL, but with all of these head injuries and crazy stuff, they're trying to eliminate it. Unfortunately I personally believe they should put more research into the equipment

Sorry if this has been posted

The NFL is changing its rules to prevent ball-carriers from initiating contact with the crown of the helmet.

It’s an attempt to make the game safer – but the league’s all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith, thinks the NFL should have its own head examined.

“If I’m a running back and I’m running into a linebacker, you’re telling me I have to keep my head up so he can take my chin off?’’ Smith said Thursday in an exclusive interview with Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan. “You’ve absolutely lost your mind.’’

The NFL’s rules-making competition committee will propose this change to NFL owners at league meetings next week. At least 24 votes from 32 owners are required for passage.

First off, any who thinks this is about Goodell changing rules at the whim of his own imagination is a ####ing fool. Goodell and the NFL were just selling NFL Hardest Hits DVDs a few years ago. This is not about softening, this is about saving your companie's a$s from lawsuits. NFL fans who complain are hypocrites, first they criticise Goodell for making the game soft compared to the old school NFL. Yet it's the old school players suing the league with lawsuits that's actually the cause of the rule changes. The era that people praise for being so "tough" is the era that's actually had more to do with rule changes than Goodell himself but no one talks about this angle.

Want to stop head injuries? Simple, take away helmets.

I'm serious.

Ain't no more people leading with their head without helmets. The head could get injured other ways obviously, especially in pile ups, but not in fast collision concussion ways. More like cuts, bruises, etc. I guess eye gouges and #### would be more prevalent too though. But it would cut down on concussions.

It'll never happen, but yeah.
