Getting first team All-NBA is alot better than all-star starter.. Rose has a shot to be named to the first team this year being that he's considered a top 3 MVP candidate so far..
*As a side note, I'm glad yao is being voted in for the simple fact that now the NBA coaches will be able to probably vote in a PF like Love or Griffin to start, without putting in Bynum who doesn't deserve to be an all-star this year..
Love or Griffin getting in the starting spot will also improve Monta's chances for comming off the bench since a slot will be open..
coaches won't be voting for the replacement. they're gonna fill out their ballots just like everybody else: under the false premise that yao's gonna be starting. once the roster is set, david stern is gonna be the one to name the replacement.
& you don't necessarily take over a person's starting spot just because you're their injury replacement. for example, david lee replaced iverson last year and van gundy made joe johnson the starter. at the end of the day, gasol or duncan will probably be the one holding down the starting spot.
i do think either love or griffin will be yao's replacement though; but who knows, stern might go straight for monta ellis
