Washington DC is about to become more bicycle-friendly. Tony Kornheiser is not a fan of this. Last week on his radio show, he said: “I think this is a terrible, terrible idea … when 3 or 4 of these people start riding abreast … I swear to you … it’s all you can do to not run them down! Like Wile E. Coyote! Run ‘em over! Get the hell out of my way … Am I wrong here?”
Kornheiser continued: “Someone’s going to hate me for this … am I wrong? … They don’t share the road, they dominate the road and dare you to run them down … so you tap them … I’m not saying you kill them, just tap them … if you’re not rubbing, you’re not racing, right?”

Lance Armstrong must have been tipped off by a fan, because he reacted angrily last night: “Listening to Tony Kornheiser’s comments/rant on ESPN radio re: cyclists. Disgusting, ignorant, foolish. What a complete f-ing idiot.” And he followed it with another tweet saying, “big mistake.”

What is Armstrong so worked up about? We laughed a few times at Kornheiser’s rant and there’s definitely a kernel of truth to it. To think he was advocating people running down cyclists is silly.

I'm with Tony on this... if the majority of cyclists followed road rules, then I wouldn't have a problem with it, but every time a person on a bike runs a red light/stop sign, I regret not having a grenade launcher mounted on the top of my ride... boom.

Tony a fool "Tap Em". The only problems I got with cyclists is some of them take up the entire lane and refuse to move over a couple of feet so I can pass them. Instead I have to drive slow like a pedophile in a school zone while in a conversion van until they finally turn off or realize they created a funeral procession in back of them. Most of them also ignore all traffic laws. If you want to ride in the car lane don't pretend the rules of the road don't pertain to you. Stop/wait/yield like everybody else. Signal when you turning. Make that L with your off arm.
