Lamar Odom explains why he was a no-show for Lakers practice

Lamar Odom didn’t show up to the first day of Lakers practice Friday, and he said he’s not even sure if he’ll show up for Saturday’s practice, or when he’ll show up period.

Odom said had a “chat” with Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak on Friday morning and informed him of his feelings.

Odom and Pau Gasol had both been traded Thursday, Odom to the New Orleans Hornets for Chris Paul and Gasol to the Houston Rockets, who were going to send three players and draft picks to the Hornets.

But the NBA rescinded the trade, forcing all players to return to their teams, leaving Odom in a quandary.

“To me, I would think it’s better to stay away,” Odom told The Times on Friday afternoon in a telephone interview. “You know, the energy and all.

“I don’t know how it’s going to go right now. It’s a little weird.”

Odom said when a team does something, it’s called “business.” But when a player does something like not show up after being traded, it's called “unprofessional.”

Odom said he still appreciates his time with the Lakers and still considers them family.

He was home resting, still pondering his situation.

“I don’t know if it’s going to happen overnight or it’s going to be a drawn-out process,” Odom said about either being traded or staying with the Lakers and attending practice.

“I don’t want to offend the sport and the professionalism. Right now, I’ll be a fan of the game from the distance. But as of right now, I just don’t know.

as a fan of odom and the lakers, he has the right to feel the way he does. who's to say that by the time the season rolls around that he'll still be in a lakers jersey?

At the end of the day your getting paid million to play !!ing basketball. I mean it's a blow to his ego majorly but suck it up nicca and get your money. Season is short this year anyways that nicca sound like he pumped up with so much estrogen right now.

Why is it messed up? Trades happen, teams look out for their future that's all the Lakers were doing. LO needs to get over himself, he's acting like a real !! right now
