Kobe was only a second option because they saw Shaq as the better player. When in fact Kobe put up good numbers himself and often carried the team. Its nothing what you guys make it out to seem. Jordan wanted to win and that's all he wanted. Him being the greatest is just something that happened in the process. You don't think Shaq in his prime would have been just as dominate on a team with Jordan? How are you a second option when the other player is good enough for you to 'take nights off' which often Shaq and Kobe did? Jordan was the first of of his kind so he didn't have worry about being in the shadow of another player. Michael perfected other players game and made it his own, and Kobe perfected Jordans and made it his own. Of course he wanted to be like Jordan. Who didn't? The only reason why people say Kobe was a secodnd option is because they compare him to Jordan, and Jordan never played with a player as good as Shaq. You have to ask yourself if you switched each player in their eras if one couldn't do the same as the other. How can you honestly answer that and say no? Give Jordan the GOAT status because of his accomplishments, but people should stop disrespecting Kobe and acting like he's not up there at the top.

Only thing you going to argue is stats and achievements. Lets be real is that the only way to prove who is greater player between these two or is it proving who is the greater achiever?

There is only one way to prove who's better in any competition and its going one on one in their prime. Kobe/MJ had no competition indivdually but both needed great teams to win chips. The only reason Mike dominated his era he kept his championship team together for 6 and Kobe kept his for 3.
