We have a top 3 class in the worst BCS conference in America and you 2 are arguing conferences matter to recruits...I don't think I've ever seen a more irrelevant argument on BX, but hey if y'all wanna brag about other teams in your conference making it further than your team then hey

[pic]we're no longer talking about recruiting.. recruiting gets you to the start of the season (ask Memphis[pic]) . if you were paying attention, you'd know that we were talking about ON THE court performance. that's what it matters for [pic] Especially in March, which is where SOS / RPI etc get validation

Word conferences matter. UCLA has the most titles in the NCAA because of the constant juggernaut they went through during the conference season, same with Butler making the title game twice, same with VCU

SEC is ok. but that random asinine point doesn't discount the fact that conferences DO matter for determining RPI, SOS, good wins/bad losses, etc.

now you answer one of my random [..] questions: is there ANY correlation / increased likelihood of having a relatively easy draw and winning a title?

How is there nothing worse than that? All it does is provide some validation that your schedule during the season really was as tough as you thought it was. Why wouldn't you want that? In my opinion it's no worse than someone randomly choosing teams to root for that have won a combined 5 or 6+ championships in the last decade [pic]

To me the reason why conferences doesnt matter in bball is because at the end of the day you prove it on the court. The top 25 polls dont matter, as long as you are in a power conference and pretty good you make it to the tourney. But strength of schedule and RPI have never won or lost anyone the National Championship, but in football it matters alot because that is what gets you into the National Championship game.

CBB is undoubtedly more unpredictable than any other sport. that's why it's so popular. but if you don't believe in the concept of what is called a "success prescription" then you're probably not going to get anywhere in life, let alone in basketball. that's like saying "i don't have to get a job because i can spend all my welfare money on lottery tickets and hope i hit it big" [pic]
