Guaranteeing the Super Bowl is Rex Ryan’s biggest regret

Rex Ryan’s days of guaranteeing the Super Bowl are over.

Ryan said today at the league meeting that if he could turn back time and change just one thing about his coaching career, he would change his previous practice of guaranteeing that his team would win the Super Bowl before the season.

“Guaranteeing that Super Bowl is always going to haunt me,” Ryan said. “If I could ever have a do-over, that would be it.”

When Ryan got to the AFC Championship Game in each of his first two seasons as the Jets’ coach, his bravado was widely viewed as a positive: It seemed that his team fed off his confidence. But now that the Jets have missed the playoffs for two straight years, his bravado has become a punch line.

So Ryan is right: Guaranteeing a Super Bowl is always going to haunt him. Until he actually does win a Super Bowl.

idk why each time he said that they were close as !! AFC champ game with a below avg QB. Rex has nothing to be sad about. He brought something new to the game I loved the swagg it made !! fun. idk why everyone wants boring[..] coaches like Bill most overrated coach in history .

to be honest i had to clue how they even made it that far with that offense.. (obviously was the defense, but im saying, how did sanchez not !! up worse then he did)

[pic] we were putting up points, because we had a filthy running game. TJ was a monster the first year and LT played great as a starter the second year but spelled more frequently. that allowed playmakers like tone, braylon (before the injuries) and cotchery to get open.

the next year we tried to air it out and our offense was a joke

ur right i forgot about the run game u had.. that explains it tho, i was baffled trying to think of the reason... i also dont remember how u made it out the afc east? did u get the wild card those years?
