If Oden is ever healthy enough to be a 15-20 minute per game contributor.... he can get you a good 8/8 with a couple blocks in limited action. Perfect.

I want Varnado to make the team but I gotta see him in Vegas Summer League first. I think he can be what they need in terms of shot blocking/defense. If he really did find a jumper like they said he'll easily make it.

Riley will swoop in. Guys needs a chance to shine on the big stage. No big stage team currently needs a center worst than the Heat. He'd get that chance.

i'm sure their medical team is great, but an underrated factor that nobody takes note of is their location. people who have chronic joint and bone pain do much better in that type of weather/climate because of factors like humidity and barometric pressure. that's why old people go places like that due to their arthritis.

I like Vernado. He's got more length and athleticism than Joel Anthony, and he's just as good if not better a shot blocker and obviously a better rebounder. If he can catch the basket he'll be better.

I was disappointed he stayed in Europe last season.... I wanted to see him get a shot over say, Terrel Harris. Hopefully he can prove himself in the Summer League / Camp.

Right now we've got:

Chalmers, Cole, Wade, Allen, Miller, LeBron, Battier, JJ, Bosh, UD, Lewis, Joel, and Pittman guaranteed for next season. That's 2 open spots, 1 of which I'm sure will go to a vet center.... hopefully Haywood or Darko clear through and one of them come to town. The other spot will likely go to the best youngster in the Summer League / Camp, which is hopefully Vernado, unless they decide to sign and stash Oden on the roster. If Miller retires that opens the door for a vet C, Oden, and Vernado.
