Hottest rumor in boxing is running rampant at Madison Square Garden and a well placed HBO source just confirmed to me that his ears are ringing from hearing it also. There will be no Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao Super Fight on May 5 in Las Vegas if Miguel Cotto, finishing up his contractual obligation to Uncle Bob Arum and Top Rank in his revenge rematch here Saturday night against disgraced Mexican handwrap cheater Antonio Magrarito, wins this bout. Why? Because Boricua b0mber Cotto, who has his own promotional outfit run by San Juan lawyer Gabby Penagaricano and has his company's TV bouts distributed already by Top Rank's hated enemy and Mayweather friendly Golden Boy Promotions, plans to bolt the Top Rank Plantation when this fight is over. I've heard it from several in the know folks now that Cotto, who has a litany of complaints against Arum and his company and his perception that they have taken Margarito's side on every issue, will cut TR loose and sign up to fight "Money" on the Cinco de Mayo date in Vegas. Sitting directly behind me right now is Pacman's archenemy, Juan Manuel Marquez, and I will ask what he thinks of Mayweather-Cotto but let me get this wild and buzzing story posted first.

Cotto just said Arum will be his promoter forever, but we'll see if he sticks to his word. Arum looked surprised to hear him say that.

On the Top Rank feed, they interviewed Cotto in the ring and Arum was there. Cotto said he'll be my promoter forever and hugged him, so unless he is lying to his face....

Looks like a rumor k!lled before it really started. Mayweather isn't fighting a Top Rank fighter and sharing money with Arum. Only way he'll ever do the Pacquiao fight is if they can squeeze Arum out somehow.

Chavez Jr gonna end Cottos career. Margarito a !!en G didnt want to give up. Cotto chased his right eye the entire fight and margarito kept callin him out on it. Good fight tho.

Will Mayweather fight him now though (he might since he's lost a few)

Lets not forget the public wanted this fight years ago almost as much as they want PAC-Mayweather now and Mayweather said cotto was "too green" then proceeded to fight less risky fighters for less money

Prob the dumbest excuse I ever heard...you think a guy isn't on your level yet the public thinks he's great do you'll get huge credit beating somebody you think is not in your league and its also a big pay day and that's the excuse you come up with [pic]

Mayweather asked for a Cotto fight when they were at 140 after the Gatti fight and Arum said no.

cotto would get destroyed, he is not an elite fighter. just make some of those exciting fights at 54.

He will on May 5th. Cotto vs Chavez Jr will bring in more than margarito vs chavez jr.

Proof because I don't recall that. I know Mayweather was asked on a few occasions and he said cotto was too green and after the Oscar de la hoya fight he was asked again and he said he was going to retire lol

I know Arum did say cotto wasn't ready but we all know how Arum is...I never remember floyd trying to fight cotto but I remember 3 separate occasions where he avoided it

in all honest they're prob both to blame for it not happening early but around 08 it was the fight everybody was demanding and wanted that felt just on the horizon and he retired....

Why would Money waste his time against Cotto. Cotto cant dodge a punch of his life was literally at stake. He would get extremely outclassed against Mayweather
