I can understand why FIBA told Stern to !! off, by asking ALL COUNTRIES to follow that rule.
American players are not the major concern for the owners, their concern is guys like Tony Parker and Nene and Luol Deng who are absolutely essential to their country's basketball programs and their countries push them to compete in EVERY tournament, major and qualifying. Take a look at Yao Ming, who's career was hindered and shortened because China relied on him so heavily. He never had a break. So just recruiting 23-and-under players for the American team is not really a solution for the issues that the owners are having.

You are right, but i think you think the NBA is a lot more popular than it actually is. 100 million for a finals game? [pic] That is SB ratings. NBA finals usually does World Series ratings. LAst year, nba finals did a 10.1, World series did a 10.0

Until USA Basketball stops receiving commitments from the likes of Lebron, CP3, Durant, and Melo I don't see FIBA dropping pros for a while, what w/all the ratings they bring in.

Yeah, I didn't know the numbers but I was trying to be generous. So we got 10 million versus billions. The NBA owners are looking like fools here.
