Ben Gordon out of Olympics after missing British team's training camp

LONDON -- Britain has lost a second NBA player for the men's basketball tournament at the Olympic Games after Ben Gordon failed to link up with the squad at its training camp in the United States.

Britain coach Chris Spice says the guard couldn't commit to playing for the host nation after he was traded from the Detroit Pistons to the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday.

"It's really disappointing," Spice said, "as he's a world-class player who would have made a huge difference."

With Bobcats center Byron Mullens out because of injury, it leaves Britain with only one NBA player -- Bulls forward Luol Deng.

The London-born Gordon hasn't played for Britain despite being named in squads since 2008.

Britain was allowed to compete at the Olympics by the International Basketball Federation despite not qualifying.

I'm sure he'll get all his anger out by the time the season starts and he's allowed to chuck up 35 shots a game.

He has been duckin and dodging the Brits way before he was traded to the Bobcats. I don't know why he just didn't tell them that he doesn't want to play.

They don't have a team and he is loyal to the country that helped his family out when he was a child and he is a British citizen. Also he is not allowed to play for any other country anymore since he played for GB in the past.
