Yeah, but man Beckett was taking forever to throw the ball. They timed it on Baseball tonight, he was up to like 14-15 seconds after he was in the set position to actually start his windup. You can't blame anyone for calling/giving time in that situation.

Honestly tho. If ur in mid wind up about to release a ball @ 95mph, & u see the ump saying "time" with the batter steppin out, ur gonna throw it down the middle like nothings going on? If Abreu didnt start gesturing talkin !! & the whole Angels bench didn't clear Beckett wouldn't be punished.

Yeah man, I agree. Beckett was taking forever, trying to keep (I forget who it was on 2nd) honest. I shouldn't have made it seem like it was the umps fault; obviously it wasn't. But from some articles I read and some of the commentators during the game were saying the time out was called too late into the pitch sequence. [pic] I'm not trying to get into an argument with everyone here- I just don't think a 6 game suspension was called for, nor do I think Beckett had any malicious intent behind that pitch. It was really bad timing to be honest; emotions were high and it got out of hand.



I agree. Not to sound like a homer, but if Abreu didn't start saying !!, Beckett wouldn't have started walking towards the plate. Had he not walked toward the plate, this would not have escalated. Had this NOT escalated, there would be no suspension. PERIOD.

Abreu called a timeout and when the ump called it Beckett was already in his windup and did exactly what their trained to do and throw the ball away. 1. The ball was a foot away from Abreu all the BS u hear going around is !! pushed by the Angels batting coach. 2. You really think a pitcher like Josh Beckett would miss if he wanted to hit someone[pic] . I think its bull!! that Beckett gets suspended but the idiot ump gets nothing. So we just let his late timeout call slide which was what started the whole thing?
