Aaron Rodgers: Replacement referees were frustrating


Another day, another complaint about replacement referees. This time it's from the reigning league MVP.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers talked about the officiating during his weekly radio show on WAUK-AM in Milwaukee and said the refs need to understand the rules.

"It's just frustrating when you're positive that there's either a missed call, or that the rule was not interpreted the way that it's supposed to be interpreted," Rodgers said. "There were multiple instances of that, and when you watch the film back, it's frustrating. That being said, there were just some bizarre calls on both sides."

The most blatant mistake by the black and white stripes during the Packers' 30-22 loss to the San Francisco 49ers actually went in Green Bay's favor. Randall Cobb shook loose for a 75-yard punt return by way of an obvious block in the back by Packers linebacker Terrell Manning.

"There's still disbelief," Rodgers said. "I can't say it's comical, but I don't feel bad because we had some bad ones our way as well. But I'm just surprised that you missed that one."

Since just about everyone with a microphone has taken a shot at the replacement officials, it's unlikely that Rodgers' words will carry much weight. Everyone should probably just get accustomed to a degree of imperfection at this point.

If you actually watched the interview instead of letting the media spoon feed you sensationalist bull!!, you'd know Rodgers already admitted there were bizarre calls on both sides, and he even thought the Randall Cobb punt return was the most bizarre of them all. Stop trying to make him out to be the crybaby when really all he's doing is saying everything we say on Boxden.

He's right...refs were bad but two of their tds were from penalties...we dominated the game...without blow calls it wouldn't have been close

How were two from penalties? I only counted one. And that "if this would have happened, then this would have happened" bull!! is getting tired. You don't !!in know what would have happened so stop your hypothetical nonsense and get over it. You won, go and smack the Lions up next week and you'll forget about it.

It wasn't even a playoff game, pull your skirt down out here got the whole team crying about a regular season loss.

This nicca needs to shut the !! up and play ball. The numbers show that replacement refs called less week one penalties than the full time guys did the last five week ones. The replacements called more pass interference penalties though.

The issue isnt really an issue but is magnified because of all the media and internet focusing on the fact that the refs are replacement guys. They haven't done any worse than the locked out guys especially considering they are mostly rookies at officiating NFL games. Ed Hochuli was !!ing up way more than these guys are but I guess you wimps just want him back to look at his arms or some !!.

I'm talking about everything, not just his play on the field. Every little comment he makes gets posted on Boxden lately. That's precisely the problem. Most of the complaints come from NON CALLS. Blatant !! that any referee should be able to pick up on. And you can't tell me !! after a team can somehow get four timeouts in a half like in that Arizona vs Seattle game. Regular refs > these scabs.
