| Shooting short films/movies |
| By N/A - 08-02-2012, 04:00 PM - Boxden > BX Paintworks Just toying around with the idea of getting into movie making, I grew up in a huge movie-watching family and I love the art of it. I look at movies in a different way now that I've shot some videos and tried my hand at the editing. Anyone done much work with short films or any major projects? If so post your work, or lets have a discussion about the art and work that goes into making movies. I have a few ideas in mind, mainly music related, but no solid story to tell... yet. Still getting equipment together as well. No one around my area (small town) is really into this kinda thing either, so I'll be winging it for a while. |

| In 2008 I worked on a film with M.K. Asante Jr and Maya Angelou check it out
Most of the Indy filmmakers I work with use [pic] The Canon 60 D and they have various lenses to use depending on what kind of shot they want. The Cam is about 1,200 bucks Editing the film u can use Final Cut Pro X ( I have a MAC) not sure if windows has it or sony vegas pro Sound is more important that Visuals. You can slap some Archival footage over the audio if what you shot wasn't too great. Think of it like this. Which would be more valuable a 45 min interview of 2pac talking or a 45 min vid of him taking a nap? [pic] Ive never used a mic like that b4 but i know a few ppl who have the sound quality is okay but you have to be within 5 feet of person/ group. I prefer to use [pic] Those are the mics that are used on most reality shows. You clip the Base on ur belt or in the back of ur pants the mic part goes on the inside of the shirt so the cam won't capture it and you have greg audio from the person your talking to. hit me up whenever you read this Last edited by illmatic826; 08-04-2012 at 03:01 AM..

| Cool thanks for the suggestions. I use the T3i and a nice little Sigma prime, but I need to get some mics like you recommended. I use a Mac also, love it so far. I'll check out your film soon as I get some free time. | |

Heres a short film I worked on. I'm really in the beginning stages of learning right now but I've worked on a few projects. Im going to school for a BFA in film hopefully if I get in next spring. I started in my video 1 class last semester and loved it but my current school does not have a film program. These are all great sites to get started

| Magic Lantern is a nice little addition to the T3i as well, adds some features not normally found on the movie mode. | |
