How do you all personally deal with something like a "Designers Block"..? When you cant think of "anything" , No ideas,ect...or when you have thought of something or a vision but you feel as if it might not fit with what your doing or the audience might not understand it..how can i work around these thoughts as a designer..?? I sometimes spend days on 1 flyer becaus eof these thoughts, lol, Sometimes i may feel as if my personal expectations are way too high.....Thanks to anybody who contributes..

I've been through it before, I've spent a solid day on one flyer/cover/etc. either cause I have a really good idea I'm working on or I have absolutely nothing going on creatively.

It happens. Sometimes you just gotta step away from the screen and take a breather. Personally, if I'm really desperate, I have an inspiration folder filled with close to 2,000 different art pieces -- fine art, digital art, typography, and everything in between. On occasion, I'll just look through it to see some good ideas and feed off that creativity.

[pic] I'm too lazy to get my external and transfer everything over + it's over 1 GB in size, but to show I'm not a greedy a-shole, here's the new folder I've been putting together that's actually on my computer, it's about 300 pieces so far.

I sometimes do 5-6 flyers a day. All I do is finish one and get up and go do something else for like 30 mins (lunch / clean around the house / play a game of hockey etc) and then go back and do the next one. Seems to always go smoothly for me.

Inspiration folders are good too, but I find myself getting lost in my folder of like 2-3,000+ pieces that I become non-productive.

Oh, and personally, weed and/or incense sticks help me clear my mind and get creative again.

Keep in mind no matter how hard you try, every design you do isn't going to be that amazing signature masterpiece. I know it sounds f-cked up for a proud designer to say, but if your workload is crazy, sometimes you have to settle for a "decent design" or "oh, pretty cool" -- forcing creativity is a terrible thing to do.

Exactly. [pic]

One thing I had to work through like 4 years back was capping at an hour-hour&half tops on a flyer - making it the best flyer ever is not necessary. Some of your most creative work will come accidentally. Atleast it does for me..

When I ain't feelin it, I just take a few mins and get my mind completely out of the design and come back in a few minutes later. (SAME THING WITH MUSIC) Something else you have to really understand when your looking at your work, is your skill level. If you only been doing graphics for a bit you can't expect to have a design that's going to look like a kid8 design.

Never force anything, let it come naturally. Music is always playing on my computer so I tend to change the vibe if I can't think. Just look at other great works you like and it'll come to you.
