| By BLACKTOPBALLER - 06-19-2012, 06:35 AM - Boxden > BX Paintworks Ok this mediocre designer in my city wants me to team up with him and do graphic work as a company (Under his company name)? It would be any easy choice to make if his work was as good as mines but its no where near, although he is like the go to designer in my area, has a large network and knows alot of people and gets business on a daily. Thats one reason why im thinking about joining him, I will make money right away but i really wanna do my own thing ( work on my time,ect.). And i kind of feel like hes trying to make money off of my designs and take credit for it (im 20 and hes like 30). He came at me the same day he layed eyes on my artwork. Im sorta like a closet designer, noone really knows about me in my city. Ive talked to him on the phone and his vibe was cool. He told me how hes trying to help me out and get my name out there (Which i dont get if we are going to be doing work as one). He also stated that he gets so much work that he needs someone to help him out. I hope not overthinking the situation cause i dont wana miss out on a opportunity. Its hard because , I need the Money!! But at the same time I wanna do my own thing! thats the whole catch. facts about him: - More experienced in business - A primary Music producer (Does graphics on the side) - Here in my city on probation - Skill level is Beginner What would you guys do..? |

| He's on probation? Be careful with that. Don't get overly ambitious and end up getting jerked around. Stay on your game at all times. If you NEED the money, it sounds like a good opportunity for you (ideally). You're young and if you're as good as you say you are, don't worry about getting your name out, you'll have plenty of time to do that later on. Right now, I'd just focus on getting paid well if I were you, especially at 20. I "ghost design" all the time, nothing bad about it. Yeah another person is getting credit for your work but you can charge them more for that. I used to do that a lot for a firm when I was younger and I still do it now on occasion. Just a part of the game. Whether you should take the opportunity or not seems like an easy answer to me. I'd be more concerned about the dude not playing me and screwing me over. Be careful with that. | |
