WWE 2K14 Arrives This Fall, Five Year Deal Announced

It appears that the WWE and 2K are five year business partners minimum, with Yukes being retained to develop the game which will release this fall. In a release sent to ESPN today, it appears 2K's work on NBA 2K is what impressed WWE officials the most. When 2K officials were approached, they saw a similar type of fit for WWE in their gaming lineup.

“We’ve looked at the WWE franchise with respect for a long time,” said Jason Argent, 2K Sports’ vice president of marketing. “There are a lot of similarities that we see, from the size of the franchise to the demographics of the franchise, and they fit in very well with what we’ve done with NBA in terms of development and marketing. We thought we could add tremendous value right off the bat and down the road. We’re super excited to get an agreement in place.”

2K will be using Yukes this year in conjunction with the team at Visual Concepts and gradually, over time, they'll be having Visual Concepts take over control of development of the game.

Added Argent: “Everything that we’ve done with NBA is what we’re trying to contribute to WWE. So the growth that you’ve see in the NBA franchise from the authenticity in the game to the excitement of the marketing that surrounds it is all something we expect to add to the franchise. We’re going to create one hell of a video game franchise.”

idk son, visual concepts clearly has done their thing with nba 2k but I cant think of a wwe game not being developed by Yukes

Just like I advised when the sale first happened, WWE will not let the franchise take a year off. It is going to take way longer than a year to get major changes. The thing is, though, Take two/2K can influence development better and much more effectively than THQ could. While Yukes won't be off for a while, we could still see some major changes sooner rather than later. This will also be good for post-release development because Take Two is much more serious about support than THQ ever was. One !!in update to WWE 13 since it launched and there are still major issues [pic]

WWE 13's online is one of the worst major release game I've delt with this gen. I can't believe their servers can be that !!in horrible. I'll never make it to the max rank online when it takes an eternity to get in and out of matches.

Yukes already has tons of work done remember they said that?, they had to keep that there and get the quick money, WWE 2K15 will be the one fully pushed by VC development.

One thing VC/2K will bring is realistic presentation and smooth as !! animations which are a good thing for wrestling games, Yukes games all seemed very robotic in animations, it doesn't hurt that we will be playing these new games on next gen consoles.
