Wii U Gamepad lag, only 1/60 of a second

Wii U Gamepad lag, only 1/60 of a second
By Da Ill One - 10-15-2012, 06:37 PM - Boxden > BX GameSpot

One concern among potential buyers of the Wii U is the possibility of incredible lag between the image displayed on your TV, to the image displayed on the Gamepad.

What with the Wii U’s high definition graphics and the Wii U Gamepad’s touchscreen resolution of 854×480, it seemed like a valid concern.

Fear not! The lag is only 1/60 of a second, according to Ubisoft’s Rayman Legends developer Michel Angel.

It just means that the image arrives on the Wii U’s Gamepad one single frame later than the image on your TV. It’s not a big deal and most people won’t even notice it, according to Mr Angel.

Michel Angel also had a bit more to say about the tablet-controller hybrid, calling the Wii U Gamepad “quite a bit more advanced than people think.”

So there you have it, any doubts you had about the Gamepad can be put to rest, unless you are like me and don’t believe anything until you have seen it for yourself…

Yeah I wouldn't really be worried about it...that's actually better than I imagined it would be...only one frame difference is pretty good...

Most of my friends will get it on the 360. Plus Microsoft had the timed exclusive dlc deal.

I think a while back Treyarch said that there might be extra stuff on the Wii-U version, so that might change my mind or I might just get it on both systems

The next COD game and Battlefield 4 will be copped on th Wii-U though (assuming it comes to the system)

!! it, Ima going to get it on both. Just Pre-ordered my copy for the Wii-U on Newegg for 47.99

The lowest framerate possible that still looks smooth to the human eye is 24 frames per second. 60 is more than twice as fast. So it's updating faster than we see when you think about it that way.
Besides, most people's reaction time is still greater than a tench of a second (1/10) which is 6 time as long. So having this 1 frame latency could potentially cause even the fastest reaction time to increase from 10 frames to 11 frames.
That's not going to make that much of a difference. So I have mad respect for Nintendo on this part. To wirelessly send a signal to a computer, have that computer interpret it, process and image, and have the image sent back and displayed on your controller in only 1/60th of a second in incredible.
This is great news, and I'm happy to see that such a level of care has been taken to reduce any latency problems.
