Why does the 360 lose exclusives? (IGN)

I didn't watch the vid, but imo they don't need em. Profits come from digital transactions. Outside of avoiding a monopoly, we don't even need multiple systems anymore.

Why this is so hard to understand I dont know. Had Metal Gear Solid 4 came out on PC and Xbox 360 it'd have generated 2 to 3 times the amount of revenue....same with Gears of War or Halo.

I agree to an extent, but certain games are just known to be apart of some companies. Metal Gear solid and Final Fantasy are a Sony product to me. Halo and Gears are MS. Yes, they will sell on other systems, but they will always sell better on the systems they started out on. MS is losing exclusives because MS doesn't care. Those games have already come, and they have made there money. So why pay out money just to keep them when they have made what they are going to make off them.

Interesting point...but besides Halo & Gears MS don't make any other exclusives worth making imo as you can get the other games for either system. The rest of the 360 exclusives to me come off as lackluster at times.

M$ should never have let ME go. That would've been their Uncharted, i'm not going to complain though it should be played by everyone.

I don't think M$ cares though, they're getting their money anyways so what's it mean if some exclusives become multiplat. It would be nice to see some more though.

I agree with everything said in this thread so far. It is an economical decision, HD games are expensive to produce. If you can't guarantee a profit to make up for the development cost, then why go exclusive? Having said that, I do still see exclusives as an import part of any console. For me, that's what convinced me to get my PS3. Both the 360 and PS3 have largely the same multiplats, its their number of exclusives that really sets them apart.

Actually this used to be their MGS4, do not be shocked if Sony goes through this same !!
with MGS4. MGS HD collections being on 360 is kinda odd since it is missing MGS1 & MGS4
both big essential games to the MGS series, Konami has to be working on something with those two games being re-released again multi-platform.

MGS4 will never be released on the 360. That game would be so many discs.

Well we've already seen MGS2 etc released on OG XBOX.

But those games didn't become popular until they hit the playstation. I did not say a company doesn't care about making money nor did I not say they shouldn't go multi. I was only talking about where their loyal fan bases were.

Howcome we ignore key exclusives that helped Sony dominate certain genres over the years though? i.e. [pic]

Does Sony not care about Namco releasing a series thats helped them have a constant million+ seller in the fighting game category for 2 generations in a row(PS1/ps2)????

Or is it because Namco spent a !! load making Tekken 6, and Tekken Tag, and they know a multiplat game would help them see increased revenue-the kind Street Fighter enjoys?

And honestly I dont think Mass Effect 1 finally coming out on PS3 all these years later is a knock on MS, hell I personally feel like the companies owe it to PS3 Owners who readily bought the original...Its like when Crytek released Crysis 1 on PSN/Xbox [pic]

Everything revolves around the dollar..For us, the consumer, its about games...for them-the devs/investors/companies an such its all about $$$$$$$

Its really moronic the more I think about it. We get upset and argue when an exclusive game gets released on all platforms I mean think about it who gives a !! if more people get to experience and play a game I think is great. niccas who dont even play Metal Gear like that would take issue if it dropped on the 360 even after all these years.

The Fact that Final Fantasy 7 sold more than those 3 combined, it also had 2 seperate games that came directly from that game, and it also had a movie that directly linked to it. That is what I meant by it didn't become popular until it hit playstation.

Both consoles have lost major exclusives this gen.

Microsoft had a strategy in making some major titles exclusive for awhile and then lost the publishing rights or timed exclusivity. Could you imagine if Mass Effect and BioShock, arguably the two best new franchises this generation, remained exclusive to Microsoft? [pic]

The end of this gen is near, it's been a hell of a ride but another 2-3 years of near tapped consoles will become tiring. Trilogies getting released left and right now as they try and squeeze money out of this gen till next year.

In a year from now I'll be ready for next gen, games & physics are all starting to look redundant. We need more powerful engines for new experiences which new physics capabilities will provide. The consoles have been tapped, it's nowhere but flatlining from here on out and as next gen games get ported in the future to current consoles the !!tier and more broken they will run.

I'm ready next year as well. 6-7 years is right at the limit for a next gen console, so I'm definitely ready.
