Sony: All PS4 Games Will Feature Remote Play

Sony gave us a quick glimpse of Knack, the first PS4 game shown, running on the Vita via remote play last night. While at the conference, they seemed rather sure that Remote Play would be available for all PS4 games, the specs sheet contradicted their statement.

The sheet in question stated that Sony's long-term goal would be to make "almost every PS4 title playable on PS Vita by using Remote Play."

When questioned by GameInformer about Remote Play's functionality with the PlayStation 4, Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony's World Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., had this to say:

" We ask developers when they finish the PlayStation 4 product and submit a master to make sure that they have the appropriate controller mapping to work on PS Vita. All games will work – unless it is a dance game [laughs]."

That means that every PS4 title will support Remote Play, a feat that wasn't present with most PlayStation 3 games. Of course they may be some lag, depending on your internet connection, but knowing that you can continue playing Watch_Dogs - which is a PS4 launch title - on your Vita when your wife wants to watch her favorite Soap Opera is great to know.

Sony will win this gen. Ps2 all over.

It's not really feasible for those without Vita's though. But for those that have em, this is a godsend.

Would never play a AAA console game on a 5 inch screen.

Wouldn't they need the Vita to have clickable analog sticks and another row of shoulder buttons for it to work with all PS4 games?

Nah, they can map L2 and R2 to the touchpad, and L3 and R3 to the touchscreen. I'm more concerned about how they'll work around games that use ALL of the DS4's features, including the touchpad.

It's like how the Nintendo Wii u games can be played on that awkward[..] controller they have....so if you play a game but you need to switch to regular tv to watch something then your controller plays the game right on it....sounds pretty good actually...this would make me buy a ps vita too


But I think they will revise the existing ps vita before the ps4 comes out...I think they will up the ram to 1 gig and slightly more powerful CPU/GPU.....I'm thinking I'll get the ps vita sometime early next year or !! it...I might just buy it when I get my ps4

Like I said before Jizzman, the Vita is a $300 ps4 controller.

guess this is good for vita users (not really sure why'd you want to play on a handheld thats on a little screen and not on ur tv though) but doesn't interest me as i could careless about the vita

also still haven't found out...anybody know when you can start pre ordering

GAME and Shopto.net have started taking pre-orders. To my knowledge, nobody in the US has started.

Pretty sure it's just the display [pic] Like the Wii U GamePad - it isn't actually a machine that reproduces the actual game via the non-existent processor inside it [pic]
