I finished all three campaigns and gonna do Ada's tomorrow. In my opinion, Leon's story > Jakes > Chris's. Maybe Ada will push one of those down though! I'm a huuuuuge resident evil fan but I'm not one to say "bring back the horror" because I understand whats truly going on in this universe. Back in the day, you were in a small town or a mansion with a virus that made slow[..] zombies. You had no idea what was going on so of course it was scary as balls for not only you but the main characters. Now the virus has spread globally though and these "zombies" are more evolved than ever. It's not so much a "walk slow and hope nothing pops out at you" type of game anymore. It's a "run for your !!ing life and hope you dont get bit" type of thing because if this happened in real life and was infecting the whole world, you know damn well thats how you would act. This game is great. Definitely my all time favorite. The day people stop comparing it to the old entries is the day they will learn to enjoy it more. If people really want the slow horror back then go play the first games. Simple.

I fcking hate how people are like "oh it's not scary and the scary factor isn't there" no !! every door u are creeping around waiting for something pop off, u will never get scared.. So If the game has u creeping around the corner and expecting something to pop out, then it has done its job.. Stfu and enjoy this sick game..

I don't how people can ignore the blatant camera issue, choppyness and general lack of polish this game has. I'm in chapter 1 of leon and while the atmosphere is reminiscent of older RE titles, I just don't feel like continuing on. The mechanics and overall feel of the game is terrible. Maybe on co-op playing with a friend it can be fun but that doesn't remove it's main problems. This the first TPS well RE I played where I just can't get with the feel of the game. Shooting feels clunky, camera is too close and cumbersome and the overall feel of the controls hurt my hand.

it is a sick game, but it strayed away from the horror genre into an action.. I love Resident Evil, but I feel that 4 was the last true one. I just wish Operation Raccon City wasn't weak as !! but instead, they made one that kind of just stuck to it's roots (RE 1-3).

You give us RE 6 back then and it will have the same effect. Most of us were young and got scared easily. I wasnt scared of things popping out because they didnt "pop" out... they limped out. because they were slow as balls. I was scared of just seeing one. I would have !! my pants back then no matter what RE game it was.

Any of you remember in RE2 when you walked through that tightly narrow corridor and the right side there was a boarded-up window, then BANG! Some creatures arms pops out of nowhere.

So far im loving the game !! i Just Beat Leon's Campaign and I Must Say That Was The Most Epic
Storyline Ever !! now, im playing as Chris & Piers and to be quite honest, im not really feeling this
campaign mode. I Mean... the beginning was pretty cool but the J'avo's are very annoying...
Atleast with Leon it went back to " Zombies " which i really enjoyed (how all resident evil should b)
but i am enjoying it.. Let's C How Jakes & Sherry's story are after beating Chris & Piers campaign.

No it wouldnt have lol....like dude above me posted there was a lot of !! like that where ud just be slowly walking down a path and !! would jump out at u and make u jump...re6 has nothing like that

I can't recall which game but just a month or so ago i was playing something that made me jump like that so age has nothing to so with it...if something catches u off guard its going to happen regardless

RE 6 does have it but since its 2012 and not 1992, they have those big "holy !! where did that thing come from" moments during cutscenes rather than in the gameplay half the time. Yeah I know that immdiately means it drops its scare value because it didnt happen in game but if it did you bet your[..] I'd scream. I'm not saying since we are older that we are afraid of nothing. You misunderstood that. Im saying if you go back and play the games back in the day that we used to be afraid of, it doesnt have as big of an effect on us anymore because most of our attitudes are now "come over stupid zombie !! and i'll st@b you in the face". It's like watching Michael Myers as a kid. Scared the hell out of you but when you watch it now you laugh at the people who die. Or maybe thats just me. I dont have to explain my life to you pedophile!

Bull!!. Horror doesnt happen by accident. RE 6 doesnt have the music, scenery, ambience, sound, environments or creativity to be scary in any generation cuz its not meant to be. You dont even have to go back to ps1. Look at the difference between RE 4 & 5. Nearly exact same gameplay and enemy types, but RE 4 had an extremely creepy vibe to it. The music fit the scene perfectly. In RE 5 its bright outdoor environments, action music, forced co-op, etc. It feels like an action movie. Go back and read the original reviews of RE 1-3 written by grown[..] men at ign, gamespot, cvg, etc and they all say the games were scary. It wasnt cuz u were a kid. Technology has changed, so expectations are different. Its hard to be immersed in a ps1 or ps2 game in 2012. The game feels like an action game cuz capcom thinks action games with online co op are more profitable than solo survival horror. Its that simple

True, but I like how they've changed resident evil...yeah 1-3 and even x code veronica was good, but if they kept it the same, it would get boring. Sometimes I get tired of going around the place just to find a item to unlock a door, puzzle, etc...re4 to me was the easiest of them all cuz you just go forward without having to keep going back to a certain room when you find items. leon's campaign brought back that re2 feeling, Chris stayed with re5, and jake was just an extra character to me lol. Ada's campaign i'm not on yet.

[pic] why are you getting all mad at me like I'm the one who made the game? Capcom has said it themselves that they know RE has become an action horror game and the director straight up compared RE to a child born whose parents represent the fans and the developers. Parents whom aren’t always going to see eye to eye when it comes to raising their young.

“The way I always think of it is that if Resident Evil represents a child, then the fans and us as creators are the two parents,” said Kobayashi. “The resulting games are like the children that are born between both of us. And just like real parents, you’re not always going to agree on what is best for raising that child.

“Now, we do always have our ear to the ground and listen to what the fans are saying and we try to take that into account when we’re making the game. But it’s our job to create a new gaming experience and to offer them something that’s fresh and challenging.

“We want to make sure that what we do pleases them but the initial reaction might not always be positive. While the team behind Resident Evil listens to the fanbase, developers can’t be beholden to them at every turn, otherwise, progress “in terms of the series’ development,” would never be made.
And then he said that its not just about the horror anymore. Thats only gonna get them so far. They dont want to go out of business so they have to try and reach as many people as possible.

“With Resident Evil, we’re trying to be as inclusive as possible. We’re trying to reach as many people as possible.”

“That makes it hard to maintain a horror feel to it when you’re trying to be inclusive. It is a challenge. I’m not afraid to admit that. We’re trying to see what kind of action we can include in the game and still maintain the horror sensibilities. Trying to blend those together is not an easy thing to do.”

“I believe you can do it,” producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi chipped in, “ You can make a horror game with mass appeal. But you’re looking at a sort of Venn diagram of people who really like horror and people who really like video games or Resident Evil.”

“Where that comes together… I think you can create a really great form of horror entertainment, but if this were the quintessential horror entertainment, it might not have mass appeal. It’ll have very niche appeal, unfortunately.”

“We’re making games and we need to have mass-market appeal in order to survive. How far do we go into horror before we lose the support of the average player? How far are we going to lessen the horror elements at the risk of losing core fans, including Resident Evil fans?”

“The challenge is trying to push it as close to the edge either way, so that we can satisfy both groups of people. I think we can do it, I really do like horror. I’m fine with pushing it up to 11 in terms of horror. But maybe that’s not what we can do and still be saleable.”

“For instance, if you have multiple scary stages, just one right after another, and you give that to a Resident Evil fan, they’ll be happy with it at first. But they’ll get inured to it after a while. It won’t be scary for them anymore. I think they would lose interest at that point.”

“It’s the same with casual players. They play this and it’s just too scary and they don’t want to keep going. It’s too much. It overwhelms them. In order to make and experience something that these two groups find enjoyable, you have to take a step back from that.”

“You can’t just b0mbard them with these horror elements. You have to mix in some stages that are more entertaining and fun than pure horror.”
I'm sorry if this is a wall of text but people need to realize this. The people who prefer the old games arent the only people in the world. Its that simple.
