I can buy a new Blu-Ray player from the Goodwill for under $75 these days. Ours has nice models all the time. Sony apparently missed the point here. They needed to hit that $199 mark to stay competitive.

I don't know what the !! they are thinking with this !!. $199 I would have copped another sooner than later. I know a few people that would have, but !! another $300 for this !!. This !! is a loss. For that price I might as well just buy the new Nintendo. I know I would if I was the average consumer.

I have no idea why they think $299 is a good price point for any model of this !!. I'm not going back to a !!in top loader. Sony could have ate if they dropped it at $179-$199. I don't know anybody that will want this top loading version.

CHEAP as hell parts inside there now,outer shell looks cheap to.
Sony has to be making some profit atleast with the 12 gig models with no HDD
No wonder the price drop didn't even happen, they have to be making profit now

the current models might get 50 dollar price drop this Xmas so they can clear them all out and sell these at 249.99/ 299.99(500 gig model)

hopefully the current models will drop in price cause my 80 gb fat is about to brick even though ive used it maybe twice in the past year the fans get really loud and hot after 5 mins,at least i got some use out of my xbox's before they broke [pic]

Well when you have to choose between the Wii U or the PS3 with more memory and an already-est@blished backlog of excellent games, which one would you go with? [pic]

Kids are going to want the Wii U hands down. Sony should have priced themselves more competitively with this. It's been their problem since the PS3 launched. They had a chance here to make up some lost ground with a $199 system. I think the larger hard drive is a miniscule point at this time for most. Alot of people would prolly have taken a 160GB hard drive or so to get it at that nicer price point. They should have at least offered a cheaper system with a smaller hard drive. It would have made the decision a bit easier for consumers, but now for close to the same price with the hype of it being a new system I wouldn't be surprised if consumers eat the Wii U up over this !! five fold.

Why are people jumping the gun? The 160gb OG Slim may very well be the $199 console now. Did people actually think Sony would release a brand new model at 199?

If it can't play ps2 games I'm not interested. I'm gonna wait for that ps4 at these prices. Might cop it after a severe price drop if the PS4 isn't backwards compatible.

Just saw the comparison video and this !! is small as !!...but it's a piece of !!. That top loading system is going to cause all kinds of problems.
