Michael Bay Rumored To Bring Us a Metroid Movie

Michael Bay, famous director of Pearl Harbor, The Rock, Armageddon, Transformers, and The Island, has a gift for delivering fast paced action and special effects to the big screen is to be rumored to be talking with Nintendo about directing or producing a film based off of Nintendo's Metroid series.

Each decade film tends to focus around themes like musicals in the 1940s and chick flicks in the 1970s. The new millenium (2000-2009) has been centered around super heros and comics, for example, Spiderman, Ironman, X-men, Superman, and Ghost Rider. There is even a Super Hero Movie which is being filmed by the makers of Scary Movie and Epic Movie.

As 2009 approaches and we head into a new decade one can only wonder where film will take us next. This is where the speculation starts of a Metroid Film produced by Michael Bay. As the gaming universe has now been expanded through the use of the Nintendo Wii, more and more people are now recognizing video gaming jargoon and characters. The Wii did something for video games that no other console besides the NES has been able to do, and that is make video gaming a mainstream media format. In fact, Nintendo holds six titles out of the 10 top selling video games according to VGCharts. So the rumor is that film makers will be looking to profit next off the popularity of video games, and in the case of Metroid, Nintendo's renewed popularity.

Now, at the moment there is nothing that can confirm the rumor that Michael Bay will direct a Metroid film, and according to imdb.com he has movie plans all the way up until 2010. However, he only has three films in 2009 scheduled and one in 2010, and in 2007 Michael Bay was the producer of five films, so there is that possiblity that he could find time to produce a Metroid movie. Never the less, if the film industry does try to cash in on the expanded gaming market, it would be a very plausable thought to see a Metroid movie come to light though it might not be produced by Michael Bay.

Could we see a day where our gaming experience is enhanced through film? Maybe a path to a secret area in a game could be shown to us through a movie, or passwords can be retrieved to help us enter through locked doors. One thing that is for sure is given the new popularity and expaned audience of Nintendo plus Nintendo's ability to make money selling merchandise, and Nintendo's desire to take video gaming to places never imagined, the question is not will a Metriod movie be made but when. Let's just hope that if Michael Bay does take on the project of creating the Metroid film that it turns out better than Super Mario Brothers did in 1993. On the other hand technology has made huge strides with computer aided graphic and seeing a movie on par with Iron Man but staring Samus Aran would would just be too exciting.

its definitely going to be a hit or miss movie...

I'll never doubt Bay again after Transformers. If this is true, it should be hot.

Michael Bay is the sh*t when it comes to cinematography and blockbuster movies. If he directs, expect this to gross $100 Mill+

and cost about $150 mil to make but transformers made me believe in him again.

Cant see it happening... Until theres any sort of facts, or nintendo having meetings with Bay, this is all heresay...

but id love to see a Metroid film

all they need to do is jus make it similar to aliens except yu dont have a bullshyt storyline where a a fucin chick scientist survives but a bunch of marines dont
