Madden NFL 13 sees 900k sold on day one

Yeah easy to break records with no competition EA...


EA sent word today that its latest Madden NFL title has set sales records for its first day at retail. Madden NFL 13 managed to sell over 900,000 units in its first 24 hours, representing a seven percent increase year-over-year on HD platforms and a new record for the franchise this generation.

EA noted that the game also set a day one online usage record with a 28 percent jump in peak simultaneous users over last year's first day. And critics seem to be thoroughly enjoying the revamped Madden, as the game has seen nine scores of 90 or above.

"Madden NFL 13 is the most innovative entry the franchise has ever seen and we're thrilled that fans have embraced it with such a huge first day," said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice President of EA Sports. "As we approach the kickoff of the NFL season next week, the football community is whetting their appetites by playing Madden NFL 13 in record numbers. With the combination of the cutting-edge Infinity Engine and new Connected Careers fans are truly getting their football fix with the best Madden NFL game ever."

Wilson had previously admitted to GamesIndustry International that Madden hadn't seen the same level of innovation as the company's other franchises, so the team was eager to fix that this year

I know a ton of people who returned in though. Not having player editing and franchise drafts really pissed people off. The game is pretty much worthless to me without it but I used the online pa#s code before I knew that they had removed franchise mode so now I'm !!ed.

Same here. I'm still going to give it time and keep playing a few games. People selling on eBay for about 40 with no online pa#s.

I never do ant fantasy drafts in sports games or edit players really so I don't really care about that. It sucks that franchise mode is gone but MUT is so damn addicting thats all i've been playing until my online league starts.
