The Madden Curse: Is Calvin Johnson Doomed?

Everyone loves John Madden.

Whether it’s his personality or the video game named after him, people far and wide recognize this iconic NFL figure. Almost as recognizable is the Madden Curse.

Originally, Madden was on the cover when the game came out. But when the franchise decided to switch from Madden on the cover to athletes, all hell seemed to break loose and the curse was born.

Bleacher Report spoke to numerous, prominent athletes, Hall of Famers and celebrities to get their opinion on the curse. Along with their opinions on the curse’s validity, we also got a few to talk about their fears concerning the curse.

The curse has claimed many spectacular athletes over the years, from Eddie George to Peyton Hillis. It continues to defy logic, and you can’t help but wonder why athletes haven’t blocked Madden from featuring them on the cover.

As Calvin Johnson prepares for this NFL season, fans across the country will watch his every move anxiously hoping the curse will finally be broken. Fingers crossed!

But the Saints lost in the first round to the garbage Seahawks who shouldnt have even been in the playoffs.

I was actually mad when Megatron won the cover, but I'm calling a week 5 injury, or collapse. I don't want to see it, its just how it is. [pic]

So?he broke the damn curse..what does his defense getting abused and[..]d have to do with anything?

He didn't break !!, cause Peyton Hillis got !!ed up, its a big difference between breaking and overcoming. Plus Brees still had his !! ups that season but he still balled out so we don't remember how many picks that nicca threw.
