Madden '13 is set to be released on August 14th. This game is packed with features including a new physics engine, an overhauled presentation, and the Connected Careers. The new physics engine called the "Infinity Engine" will change the game of Madden as you know it. The NHL series as seen the success of adding a true physics engine, and that success looks to carry over to the Madden series. Football should be based on specific hit points with specific reactions coming from every point possible. This should allow for some pretty gnarly tackles.

Besides the inclusion of the Infinity Engine, EA Tiburon is striving to streamline everything involving career or franchise modes with the new Connected Careers. If you start a career as a superstar, you will now be able to import your face with the Gameface feature. You can create a superstar, play as a current superstar, or play as a Hall of Famer such as Walter Payton or Joe Montana. If you want to full control of the team, you can create the coach or use a current coach. It also seems Hall of Fame coaches are in the game too like Lombardi and Madden himself. If doing online, players can mix and match if they want to coach or be a player. This mode seems to offer a lot of depth and should definitely appease those who have questioned what direction Madden's franchise mode is going to take.

However, for the people more accustomed to the franchise mode rather than the Superstar mode, the experience gets deeper. According to Jeff “RynoAid” Setzer, there will be no more predetermined ratings as your years progress. Players will earn XP for their performance on the field which then can be allocated towards ratings boost across different categories. XP can also be earned for the coach that can define the direction of your team. Players will now be rated dynamically based on the team's play style. Ratings would differ for a OLB in a 3-4 as compared to a 4-3.

Another huge and much needed overhaul is going to the commentary aspect. EA Tiburon has added the premiere CBS Sports announcing team of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. Honestly, the Madden series this generation has probably had the worst broadcasting of all the sports games this generation. If they can make these two sound natural and limit the errors, there's a lot of potential to make your game feel like a true television broadcast. The game will also feature a live-ticket like NCAA has to keep you up with what's going on in the league.

There is a lot of hype surrounding the latest iteration of Madden. If all these features work out correctly, this definitely gives Ea Tiburon something to build on for the next generation. Madden '13 will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PS Vita August 14th. The Wii U will get a release later in the year.
