Hideki Kamiya: PlayStation All-Stars is “just a rip-off”

Bayonetta, Okami, and Project P-100 director Hideki Kamiya has been sharing a few thoughts about PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale on Twitter. They haven’t been positive, to say the least.

In a number of short messages, Kamiya said that he doesn’t like the game as he sees the upcoming fighter as a “rip-off” of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series.

^^^ Fixed and Powerstone and SB came out 7 months apart...that's not really copying they were in developement the same time... AND Powerstone isn't a mascot brawler... SSB and SPASBR is...

I don't even want to !! with the game. The !! has no soul.

No Crash, no Spyro...some of the characters that made the Playstation brand from the ground up are missing. That's the big difference between the games. Nintendo has a lot of staple, household names spanning multiple generations, Sony?

The game looks like it will have fun mechanics, but man...the whole fact that it looks like a cheap knock off just cancels all of that for me.

^^^ Yeah i'm same way here...but I am going to play it when the beta opens up to everyone i'm all over it to play it for myself...but right now without playing it...it doesn't look that fun...I'm not the biggest fan of Smash Brother's either so that doesn't put this game as high on my list anyway...but I def will check it out first hand when I get the chance to get the beta

Doesn't have Crash or Spyro? When was this announced?

It wasn't. Even then, the characters shown off are disappointing to say the least.

Big Daddy? Really? Bioshock was released for the Xbox 360 before the PS3.

His inclusion is ok at best. With that said, I have little to no faith in seeing Crash.

Why does that matter? It was a timed exclusive. That's like being surprise if Rayman from Legends comes as DLC down the road.

Why does it matter? It goes back to saying, this game lacks soul. Are there any indicators that Bioshock is some sort of big name Playstation game? What constitutes being a "Playstation All-Star"? That's like some scrub being voted into a sports All-Star game.

Out of the 12 confirmed characters, 5 are from the PS3 generation, 4 of them being first party. Only two of them being from the PS1 era... and Parapa The Rapper's inclusion over guys like Crash, Spyro, Cloud, Gabriel Logan, Squall...

I'm just saying, if Sony intends on ripping off Smash Brothers, they should at least do great job at it. Nintendo has a huge st@ble of big name first party characters. Sony doesn't, but they could have pulled out the stops in bringing back some of those old first party characters they lost.

I would have made this my lineup no matter what.

Those are just the heroes of the games, you could throw in some staple bad guys from their respective games and the roster would be beyond ill.

Anyways, the first and third party roster is just so...disappointing. They just hand picked a bunch of characters at random and begged any third party dev to get some left-overs at a discounted price.

No soul. It's not as if the gameplay will be leaps and bounds over anything we've played in the past, so the characters should be top notch.

They can't get laura. You do realize that unless Sony owns the IP, devs have to agree to this right? And LAwLB, you haven't even played it so stop.

it is a rip-off though. doesnt mean it wont be a fun rip-off or have solid fighting mechanics. ill play the next beta before i make a conclusion.

Sony should have thrown in the towel if they can't secure what made the brand in the first place. That's my opinion.

That's outside of the horribly corny name the game has. The presentation of the game itself is corny also.

It's like Sony has to let everyone know that this game features Playtation Allstars, and most of these guys aren't even "All-Stars" in my book. [pic]
