Even Crapcom doesn't think the Wii u is next gen.

Even Crapcom doesn't think the Wii u is next gen.
By Da Ill One - 09-08-2012, 03:15 PM - Boxden > BX GameSpot

In its annual report, Capcom made this statement:

“Although Nintendo will release the new game console Wii U and the market will continue to be invigorated by the increase of DLC, time is required before the next generation console cycle begins in earnest.”

Damien McFerran at Nintendo Life writes:

“It would appear that the creator of Monster Hunter, Street Fighter and Resident Evil doesn’t see the Wii U as a true next gen platform – something that many other developers are likely to agree with, given the system’s technological parity with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.”

I'm not sure at this point...I need to hear or read the Official specs, and compare them to this current Gen...if it's not a "leap" above then it's not next gen, if it's just barely better then what we have now then it's not Next gen...you need some type of technological advancement to be Next Gen in my opinion... and playing games in 1080p isn't a step up because both the PS 3 and 360 can do that now...not that many games do this but it's possible now...same with tablet controllers, those are possible now look at the Vita...

so when we get actual specs and can know for sure what the system can do...than i'll let you know which "gen" I think it is...but too many rumors going around right now to make a decision...

I want to like the Wii U I really do...but I haven't seen anything to impress me enough to want it...

Ya I feel tha same way about the wii u. Nintendo knows everyone wanted an HD console from them to be on par with the 360 and ps3 but if all the rumored specs are true then its barely above the specs of the consoles that are out now.

To me it looks like there putting all chips on the controller with the huge LCD screen.

So we're saying that the Wii U, the first of the next-gen consoles, isn't next-gen? People are so stupid [pic]

Developers are saying it's not...so I guess they are stupid too?

That's the whole gist of the thread. Capcom doesn't consider Wii U a next-gen console when it already is. The game is the first of the next cycle of consoles, there's no disputing that. If the Wii U isn't next-gen then what makes a console next-gen?

And that's just capcom stating there opinion. The only company opinion i would trust at this point would be ubisoft cause there going all in with the wii u when others are still questioning its future.

But their opinion doesn't make sense. The Wii U isn't next-gen for what reason?

Not really anymore cause capcom is trying to dig there selves out of whole now. Nintendo has backed there selves with the best gaming company on the market.

that sucks because nintendo and capcom used to be close homies back in the 90s. capcom used to give super nintendo the hook-up on them exclusive third party games. exclusive games that weren't released on sega genesis. [pic]

Why do you say Wii u is next gen?

I been saying this !! is going to flop.

1. Core gamers wont get buy it in masses, fact. There is little reason to buy this if you own a ps360.
2. Casual gamers wont see the novelty of owning it. The Wii1 was new and different. Most bought for wii sports or bought wii play for the 2nd controller.
3. Brand confusion. Most ppl initially thought the wiiu was just a new controller. Have ninty even show off what the hardware will look like?

Without the core crowd and without a large # of casuals this machine will do ok in salesbc of ninty fans. but no where near the level of the wii. And its year start won't do it no good when it wont get next gen graphics games.

i'll explain it in baby terms... imagine GOW3 on PS2... u can only do so much for a console, like when they tried to port Metal Gear Solid 4 to XBOX but the machine just wasnt powerful enough, the point they trying to make is that they want whatever ideas they have to make a game to be possible they dont want to be limited, mayb the Wii U wont be able to handle whateva games they release in the future due to limitation... Next Gen games should nt be able to port to current gen consoles than the point of making a new console would be pointless

It's just going to be Wii syndrome all over again when Sony and Microsoft launch their new systems. The titles will be crippled ports sooner than later. Sure it's going to run the end life software of the current gen well, but how well is it going to handle software that might even only be 3 years out pending when Sony and MS finally drop...
