It’s surprising to see no Polyphony Digital or Square Enix on the list, but considering their recent output I guess it was a fair choice. Mojang’s inclusion so high on the list is certainly surprising, but they did manage to create a game that spawned off numerous clones and Minecraft managed to become one of the most influential games this gen.

EDGE has been known to reward innovation, creativity, and technical ability; that’s also their reasoning for creating this list. Do you agree with them?

and the game reviews
Planetside 2 – 8
DmC: Devil May Cry – 8
The Walking Dead – 8
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch – 8
Ace of Spades – 4
Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward – 7
Uncharted: Fight for Fortune – 5
Aero Porter – 7
QatQi – 8

Yeah Mojang shouldn't be that high...Minecraft is NOT that good
and Telltale does have a GOTY plague which id Doesn't...plus id hasn't made anything relevant in years... so i'd agree with that one

You do know who id Software is right? As in the fathers of the modern FPS. I'll take that over some silly GOTY plague any day of the week. Terrible list.

You think Id Software doesn't have a GOTY plaque? The same company that made Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake?

Of course i Do Doom, Wolfenstein, etc,. but just because you invented a genre, or are the father's of a genre doesn't mean you automatically get a high ranking...they haven't even been released anything worth remembering in the last couple years and no Rage is not worth remembering...and aren't really even relevant right now...

I guess being as this is an All Time list, you are right they should be higher then Tell tale...but id hasn't even been relevant in about 10 years to be honest...

Your right they do have one from 19 years ago with Doom...like I said they haven't even been relevant since 1996 when Quake came out...

Quake and Quake II both won GOTY awards. Meanwhile, Wolfenstein 3D was recognized by the Computer Gaming World Hall of Fame as "helping to shape the overall direction of the computer gaming industry."

At this point, Id > Telltale, easy.

Sorry buddy, I've did the reseatch. Computer Gaming World selected Quake as Best Game Of The Year and Adrenaline Vault named Quake II their Game Of The Year. Not to mention, being recognized by the Computer Gaming World Hall of Fame is a greater achievement than anything Telltale has done.

Nope CGW gave Quake the ACTON game of the year not the game of the year....

and AV gave Quake II ACTION game of the year not the game of the year...

Awards

Computer Gaming World
March 1998 (Issue #164) – Action Game of the Year
PC Gamer
April 2000 - #8 overall in the "All-Time Top 50 Games" poll

"Today is the fifth anniversary of Quake, as the shareware version of the game was released on June 22, 1996. Here's a bit from the id Software site describing some of the kudos that Quake garnered in its day: "The year 1997 showered QUAKE with numerous awards. Computer Gaming World named QUAKE Action Game of the Year and recognized QUAKE with the "Special Award for Technological Achievement." Computer Gaming announced QUAKE as their selection for Best Game of the Year and Best Action/Adventure Game of the Year."

The article says Computer Gaming, not CGW for the "Best Game Of The Year."

Moby Games says nothing about Adrenaline Vault. This is from the Adrenaline Vault review:

"Quake II easily wins 5 stars overall. It is the most incredible game I’ve ever played and is definitely the best game this year."

They also gave it an award for Best 3D Game Of The Year, not "Best Action Game Of The Year."

Doom won 2 Game Of The Year awards and was selected as the "Greatest Game" for 1993, 3 times. Doom 3 also won 2 Game Of The Year awards.

343 studios shouldnt be on that list, the halo series was basically handed to them on a silver platter.

Valve being number one is corny. I'm sorry but Half Life wasn't all that great of a series.
