Early Sleeping Dogs reviews roundup

Edge gives everything below a 8. Yet those !!s gave Halo 3 a 9, while MGS4 got an 8. Apparently the story wasn't good enough.

Ok, so I've been playing sleeping dogs for the past 3 or 4 hours. Honestly kinda hated it at first, but I'm enjoying it now. A lot of things I don't like, but a lot of things I really do like. The driving isn't the greatest, took awhile to get used to. I hate that guns are pretty much absent unless you k!ll a cop which is !!ing hard. Everytime I start hitting one, he tries to cuff me so I reverse it, but then I can't pick up his gun. And by that time that's a !! ton of cops shooting me the !! up. Graphics aren't that great either, but good enou I guess. There's a ton of pop up and screen tearing. The combat is awesome though. And the environment k!lls are pretty sweet, but they do get kinda old seeing as there's not that many different ones. For some reason the free running works great sometimes, but not others. I run into spots all the time that won't let me jump up or over and I can't figure out why. And I haven't been able to find how to get into forest area, I'm guessing you can't. Overall I'd give it a 7 or so. Not as good as Gta iv or sr3, but it's fun.

Edit: I love the story so far and the voice acting. I'm worried as to how long this game will be though. I only did a few missions and it says I'm already twenty percent done with the missions. I know there's other stuff to do, but I was expecting a 15-20 hour experience. I only spent maybe an hour on actual missions so that equals maybe 5 or so hours of story give or take,

so is this game worth buying? for the 60 bucks..

I grabbed it from the redbox, put in about 30 minutes last night, !! is excellent. Im going to try to put in another hour or two tonight if the wife and kids let me. A def must buy.

Wasn't really checking for this game too heavy but must've had it on my GameFly list as it arrived last night. Have to say, biggest surprise of the year for me. This game is pretty incredible. It wears it's influences heavily on it's sleeve but they all mesh together well. Shades of GTA, Saint's Row, Need For Speed, and[..]assin's Creed can be seen. But what sets this game apart is the storyline. The storyline and voice acting are so well done you'd play this game until the finish just to see how it ends. The fact the game play is fun is just icing on the cake. If your a fan of this genre I'd have to say it's a must-play.
