Sleeping Dogs is what happens when every part is the good part. Four years after the release of GTAIV, a developer has finally removed Rockstar's crown and placed it upon its own head. While I can't deny Saint's Row has better missions and GTA has a more detailed world and better driving, neither is as consistent and polished as Sleeping Dogs.

Between its fantastic combat, shooting, presentation, storytelling, and RPG elements, Sleeping Dogs has just raised the demands for what it'd take for GTAV to get the throne back. Good luck, Rockstar.

I’m not sure why more people aren’t paying attention to Sleeping Dogs, but now that the game’s out, hopefully you won't make the same mistake. Sleeping Dogs did things that wowed me from the moment I started playing, and it never really stopped. A few finicky issues aside, Sleeping Dogs has proven itself worthy of joining the top cla#s of open-world sandbox games revolutionized by the likes of Grand Theft Auto IV and currently topped by more recent additions like Saints Row: The Third. But don’t be confused; Sleeping Dogs does some things better than even the cream of the crop, and its story will be what keeps you focused on playing. The fact that the game happens to play well is simply icing on the cake.

For a team who's never made a game like this before, it's an incredible achievement, and one of the best open world games of recent years. It lacks that pristine GTA polish, sure, but it makes up for it with its sense of humour, compelling story, and fun mission design.

Sleeping Dogs certainly doesn't deserve to take all the blame for this situation, and Rockstar has some serious game-raising of its own to do with GTA5. But when a game is so clearly intent on being a follower of trends rather than setting them, it's hard to feel much pa#sion for Sleeping Dogs' vanilla retread of est@blished ideas. When compared to his open-world peers, Wei Shen's stoic promise to do "what I always do" ultimately feels more like an apology for low ambition than a rallying cry.

It's a good game, but Sleeping Dogs mostly leaves you remembering the media that inspired it and probably won't remain in your thoughts over time.

Goofing around and pursuing high marks on these leaderboards is fun, but it's the atmospheric city and the varied story missions that make Sleeping Dogs an alluring adventure. It may have more violence than you'd want in a typical vacation, but this is still a fun-filled Hong Kong getaway that will leave you with many happy memories.

Bottom Line: A solid open world crime game with a fully-realized setting and mechanics that support the theme of an undercover cop unsure of his loyalties, Sleeping Dogs has a lot to offer.

Sleeping Dogs is both great at making a beautiful Hong Kong your playground, as well as portraying the drama hidden in its streets.

Sleeping Dogs offers one of the strongest narratives in recent gaming and drags you through the gritty streets of Hong Kong's mob underworld in the process. Its gameplay doesn't offer many new ideas, but it delivers what it promises. Namely, an engaging story, fun combat, slick driving, and solid gameplay.

Like an early Bruce Lee flick, Sleeping Dogs contains flashes of brilliance that stand out amidst an uneven whole. But, unlike Lee himself, it’s likely few will remember Sleeping Dogs as either an innovator or master, but merely a student of greater games.

When Sleeping Dogs grabs hold of you it absolutely refused to let go. You'll be amazed by the sheer amount of content, and how compelled you'll be to consume every drop of it.

Rockstar Games needs to take note and step their game up for Grand Theft Auto V—Sleeping Dogs has set the bar very high.

I think when the reviews are in its going to be a solid 8 to 8.5. Cause the people who are scoring it a 6 or a 7 just arent feeling it...seems like its more personal to that reviewer, rather than an opinion from the brand [pic]
