EA Sports Football Cla#s Action Lawsuit Settlement May Return Money To Consumers

EA Sports Football Cla#s Action Lawsuit Settlement May Return Money To Consumers
By Da Ill One - 07-21-2012, 11:22 PM - Boxden > BX GameSpot

In 2008, a cla#s action lawsuit against Electronic Arts was filed claiming that its exclusive deal to create NFL games was causing the price of NFL games to needlessly rise. Without competition, EA could charge whatever it wanted like a monopoly. That lawsuit has reached a possible settlement.

A $27 million settlement has been proposed that would offer consumers who have purchased Electronic Arts published NFL, NCAA, or AFL licensed games since 2005 small refunds for their purchases. GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 titles could receive up to $6.79 per game, and current generation Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 titles could receive up to $1.95 per game.

The proposed settlement also states that EA will not sign to have AFL exclusivity and will not renew its current NCAA agreement when it expires in two years.

The settlement still needs to be approved by the court, so nothing has been set in stone just yet.

these things are a waste of time unless you're in it for a result other than a payday. And 9 times out of 10 that's all you get from these lawsuits, a payday that can't even pay for your lunch for a day.

Hmm so let's see I copped Madden '05, '06, and '07 for PS2. On PS3 I've copped Madden '09, '11, and '12 and NCAA '09 and '11. I know I copped a couple PS2 NCAA's but I don't remember which years.

I wouldnt be so sure. It says they will not renew the AFL contract or the NCAA contract but says nothing about the NFL. they wont relenquish control of that without a f!ght. I like 2K football better myself. I really liked the 1st person football.

I'm gonna be rolling in dough! I bought every Madden and NCAA Football from 2005 to 2010. Bought Madden 11. And I didn't move up from PS2 to my 360 until Madden/NCAA 09. I'm looking at enough to cover my FIFA 13. [pic]
