how is that series i always wanted get it and play it but never got around to it is it actually that good

I've only played part 3 on the Vita/PSP, it's really fun if you're into third-person shooters and want some RPG elements thrown in the mix without the bog of tedious weapon/skill management that typical RPGs hold.
