If we're talking technology wise, of course. But for their time those old school consoles were the definition of gaming. So many hits in such short amounts of time. PS2 > PS3 in that regard.

Everyone has this spot in their heart for old school gaming and blah blah blah. I like 90% of the games I own now more than anything I ever played when I was younger. Ill take LBP over Mario, 3d Dot Game Heroes over Zelda, Fallout 3 over Fallout and so on.

Dont get me wrong I appreciate the old school systems, !! I still own an og nes, n64, gamecube, ps1-2 and dreamcast but other than showing my kids some stuff they are useless to me.
