Chilli Signs With Akon's Konvict/Interscope
TLC star Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas has a new record deal. Chilli signed a deal with Akon's Konvict Records which is distributed through Interscope. Her solo album slated for release this Summer will also be distributed through Interscope. She announced the deal during the Hill Harper book signing at entertainment attorney Charles Mathis's mansion on Friday.
Chilli has completed 12 songs for her new CD and she plans to go into the studio with Akon this week to record 4 more songs. The diminutive singer/rapper said she signed directly with Konvict records rather than with major label Interscope because she liked Akon's grind and his production skills.
Chilli said she was appreciative of fans who downloaded her illegally leaked single "Gameproof". But she has taken steps to prevent any further leaks until the album officially drops. Chilli promised she would send me a CD which I thought I would receive over the weekend. But she laughed and said she would send me the CD "when it comes out". I'm like, isn't that when everybody else gets it?
Chilli accompanied attorney-turned-actor-author Hill Harper to the book signing and they've been spotted dining together at several Atlanta area restaurants. They make a cute couple but I think they're just friends.
