Say thank you to Jodeci for Dru Hill, JE, 112, Prophet Jones, and ANY R&B group that has gained any noteriety since '95. They {R&B groups} are still stealing the personas, the lyric-styles, the arrangements, production-styles, & everything else that is JODECI. It's quite pathetic really.
So, anyways, Jodeci of course.

I blame Jodeci for "thug R&B groups". I mean Jodeci* wa good but damnit...all these groups now days are like rappers that can hold a note. Damn shame.
*edit* actually I take that back...I blame R.Kelly.

The thing about Jodeci, though, is that they didn't sing about dealin' drugs, hustlin' in the streets. They cussed a total of like 3 times in their songs. They had a persona, but their music wasn't about the streets.

yeah, i caught it. but a lot of people do in fact place blame on Jodeci and as you can tell, I don't feel as if that's an accurate blame. I agree with you that R Kelly is one who popularized the ideology of "R&B Thug" ....

Boyz II Men ran the 90's! From then to now, I would have to say Dru Hill, 112 (Part III was crack) and Jagged Edge for most current top group.
