takes a while to get used to and appreciate his descriptive style, read Great Expectations and Oliver Twist, next up Tale of Two Cities, trying to get hands on David Copperfield, anyone draws parallels between him and Nas?

I could see what you're getting at with him and Nas, but I never really thought about that before. Both are good at depicting grimy cityscapes. The best d*ckens novels, in my opinion, are Hard Times and Bleak House. Definitely better than the ones they usually teach in schools. If you like d*ckens' descriptive style you'd probably like Dostoevsky too. I suggest The Brothers Karamazov (the one translated by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky).

i would have to say my personal fav out of all that I have read is A Tale of Two Cities. It brought together the craziness of two cities in one book and showed what can happen when people band together. I suggest you try reading The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas who by the way was a black man during his thing in the 18th century.
