I got to see her in college one year, and the sh*t she said was so phenomenal. She is an inspiration. She spoke for like an hour and a half without any notes or a hint of nervousness. My favorite poem of hers is "Still I Rise."

yeah, I actually got to see her for free. I was going to the University of Iowa at the time, and 2500 students could get tickets, first come first serve, but for free.
I waited forever and was in the nosebleed section, but it was worth the wait to see her in person. she talked about being raped at a young age and how it made her go mute for like 5 years until something sparked her to speak again (I think that is covered in the Caged bird sings book), about being a single mother when that wasn't as accepted, her singing/dancing career, and a lot of her philosphies...

that particular year she was touring several colleges...I don't know how she does it now. I think if she comes anywhere near your area, you will probably hear about it, she probably would be at any kind of arts center, etc.
She was just in Minneapolis/St. Paul earlier this year (late May I think) and I saw it advertised...but that cost like $30-35 or something. I would still think it is worth it to see her if you haven't though.
This website used to have links to her events, but I don't think it has been kept up well in the past couple years: http://www.mayaangelou.com/ShortBio.html
I acutally had the blessing earlier this year of having some of my poems appear in the same book as hers...the book is called "Cosmic Brownies". It just came out earlier this year. You can check it out at...

That was unbelieveable, to have some poems picked to be in the same book as some of hers...
