Well, all those pesky rumors can be put to rest. Not the ones about who the next Bond will be. You can go ahead and talk about those as much as you want. Personally, I'm gunning for Hugh Jackman. He's the shiznit. No, the rumors I'm talking about are what story the next Bond will follow. In an interesting twist (seeing as how Quentin Tarantino was quite vocal about wanting to direct this very story), MGM and producers' Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced today that Bond 21 will be CASINO ROYALE under director Martin Campbell (who, as you may recall, directed the 1995 hit GOLDENEYE, which introduced Pierce Brosnan as 007). According to Wilson and Broccoli “We are thrilled that Martin has accepted our offer to direct CASINO ROYALE. He is an extremely talented director and we believe he will help take our films in a new and exciting direction. He is currently finishing filming ‘Legend Of Zorro’, the sequel to ‘The Mask Of Zorro’, and will be joining EON Productions shortly to work on the development of the script with our writers, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.” This should be enough to keep us from talking about who the next 007 will be. At least for a few hours.
