A movie based on the insanely popular HALO video game for the Xbox took on step closer to being a reality this week as Microsoft has quietly hired Alex Garland (28 DAYS LATER) to write the first draft of the script. As reported earlier, Microsoft and Bungie, developers of HALO, will then shop the finished script to interested studios as a complete "turnkey" package. The Halo team would likely also have a say in who would be hired to direct the feature (meaning you can sleep easy knowing "Dr." Uwe Boll won't even be allowed to see this movie, let alone direct it). While Microsoft wouldn't comment on the deal, it's believed Garland will receive upwards of $1M to write the script. It'll be tough work though as little is known about the main character of the two video games Master Chief. As for directors, it has been reported in the past that Microsoft and Bungie were hoping to entice Ridley Scott (ALIEN) to direct but that decision is still some time off. Halo is one of the most popular video games having raked in approximately $600 million since 2001. "Halo 2," which hit stores late last year, sold 6.4 million copies and was the second-bestselling game of the year.
sounds hot any thoughts people
