A friend of mine asked me to write a poem for her basically summing up how our relationship as friends is....so I wrote this on the spot in about 15 mins....tell me what yall think
A commendable friendship,
that trails amongst the borders of an affair,
but composure keeps us within the constraints
of friendly conversation,
toying with the notion of a revival
of our younger love's memoirs.
We have distanced,
and have become companions
of frequent hello's and goodbye's,
but never once seriously shadowed
the chance of rebirthing a relationship,
that we still retain fond remeberance of,
and still speak of folded letters with faded scribblings
of our initials confined inside a red heart.
We remain content,
and friends thru an every once in a while contact,
but age has concieved a mutual maturity among us,
so we are able to share life's scars
and confessions with an open mind,
without the risk of hurt feelings.
Treading thin lines between what friends do
and what couples do,
We realize that nothing can exceed
the limitations of intercourse,
yet walk the fine path of intimacy,
but remain mere sexual counterparts,
and still have the audacity to consider each other,
as the best of friends.
