Many will unrighteously deny just acclaim
and one is forced to reckon with personal capabilities
that may seem irrational and instigate stress.

Nonetheless, I will not short change myself
when I know I give you all of me
in return for a crumb of your selfish gratitude.

I relieve myself thru this litigation,
that allows me to confront my audience,
and dare them to match me,
hence promoting a formidable opponent.

Thru solitary confinement,
I become a lethal literary litigant,
and by the power of apparent conciet
I am driven to this calling,
and will no longer be motivated by
scant critiques or spiteful antagonists.

Therefore, for this hunger that yearns
I will continue to feed this anorexic desire
and fuel my spirit thru the power of the art
despite the ignorant of heart
as they in turn act as constiuents of inspiration.

I wrote this in response to a company that wanted some of my works but bashed some of my poetry and wanted me to change the urban tone in my pieces....and this is how i felt....

now it makes more sense to me with your explanation...I defintiely can sense your anger in this piece

and I feel you on the subject matter...I would have had a book deal last year, but the company said i had to get rid of all my "black and angry" pieces out of my manuscript...I told them I would rather wait and risk never getting published than sell my own personal vision short.

stay up fam...use that frustration to write your next masterpiece, like you are doing.

I, also can relate to this.....very moving piece especially when read by poets who have endured the same thing...kind of why i stuck with the love thing for so long.....
